Q: I don’t know much about calisthenics, how do I find out more?

Q: What are The Body Dojo belt levels?

The Body Dojo Belt Levels provide a way for you to baseline your calisthenics strength and skills. We developed the belt system so you can jump right in and begin the Body Dojo program at a level tailored to your abilities. The strength and skill requirements become progressively harder and harder starting from white belt to black belt. The higher in the belt system you are, the stronger you will be, guaranteed..

Q: How did you come up with the belt levels?

We designed the belt levels to build a balanced and progressive guide for increasing strength and skill. The belt level requirements are not a comprehensive list of all the movements you can do, but merely a representative example of strength to be in that belt level. It took much trial and error to create the belt levels, so you get all the benefit!

Q: How do I determine what my belt level is?

Your belt level is determined by your current strength and skill abilities. Each belt has a representative set of prerequisite exercises and skills you should be able to perform in order to qualify at that belt level. These prerequisite requirements can be measured in number of reps or hold times, depending on the specific requirement.

Q:  How long will it take to move up the belt levels?

Depending on your level of commitment, training, practice, etc. You may move up the lower belts quickly, i.e. one or two months per belt. Once you hit blue belt, expect 3 months to a year per belt level. Strive for the highest belt level you have the ability and training to get to. Not everyone will hit black belt, so do not get discouraged.

Q: I don’t want to start at white belt, what if I just jump to blue or purple belt?

You don’t have to start at white belt. You can start at whatever belt you have the ability to muster. Be forewarned though, many of the exercises in the higher belt levels may be impossible to do unless you are really within that belt level. The Body Dojo belt levels were designed to keep you honest, both about your abilities and your workouts.

Q: How do I develop a workout program?

We do all the heavy lifting for you! You do not have to develop your own program. Our platform will give provide all the workouts you will need to progress on your bodyweight fitness journey.

Q: I don’t have a pullup bar, can I do the workouts?

Our calisthenics program does require some basic equipment. With a pull up bar, parallettes, and a pair of gymnastics rings you can perform almost all of our workouts.

Q:  Is the Body Dojo just for guys? Can girls do it too? The exercises look like they require a lot of strength

Everyone can do it! Not just male or female, also young and old. It’s your own bodyweight, it’s never the wrong time to start.
