        • Awesome! You have all the tools you need. I can make a video for you if you want, but it’s pretty straight forward. It’s always better to use hardwood, but you can also use pine if you want:

          Parts:
          – 2x 20″ length 1-3/8″ poplar round bar (pine is okay too)
          – 4x 8″ length 2″x4″ redwood (you can also use common 2×4 pine)
          – 4x 10″ length 2″x4″ redwood (you can also use common 2×4 pine)

The 10″ pieces are the base, the 8″ pieces are the vertical posts.

Cut all the pieces to length and then assemble. Start with the vertical posts, measure 0.5″ to 1″ down from the top of the vertical posts, that should be the top of the hole where you will drill the 1-3/8″ opening with a fostner bit.

Next secure the vertical posts to the handles using wood glue and either a wood screw or brad nail. During this step make sure the vertical posts at both ends of the handle are parallel.

Attach a base to each vertical post using glue and 3″ wood screws. That should be it. You can also get fancy and route beveled edges around the supports if you want. As for stain, you can leave the handles bare or apply a wood stain of your choice, I would not finish them with a poly or anything. As for the supports, you can stain/finish them with a poly or similar finish. If you want the base to have some extra grip, fasten some marine washers to the bottom (rubber side down).

Let me know if you want a video on this, I can work on one, but it may take a couple of weeks.
