Handstand to straddle handstand Guide

Instructions

  1. Get into a handstand
  2. Maintain a good balance, and then bring your legs into a straddle position
  3. Maintain your balance, keeping your hips in line with your torso
  4. Hold the straddle for the desired amount of time, and then bring your feet back together
Key points
  • Feel out the difference in your body weight distribution as you transition into the straddle, you will also feel like it requires less force with your fingers to control your balance, this is because your effective lever is shorter by bringing your legs out to the side
  • You can use the straddle position to help maintain a longer handstand hold
  • Play around with your legs in different positions, feel for how you need to position your shoulders relative to your wrists to maintain balance
